We completed this fantastic loft conversion recently in a flat in Haringey, London. The couple who own the property are planning to expand their family and therefore required an additional bedroom, complete with an ensuite shower room. With rising house prices, it’s often more financially rewarding to increase the amount of space in a current home, rather than move to a bigger property.
As with any construction project, there are always hurdles which must be overcome. In this case, the flat didn’t initially have permitted development rights. What’s more, the flat had five different neighbours who each had to agree to sign before we could move forward with the project. However, we were able to deal with these issues quickly and professionally so that we could persevere with the build.
We worked closely with Paul Brettel, a Party Wall Surveyor, whose role is to resolve differences between neighbours when construction work is proposed. Paul is familiar with work in the Haringey area and, although we work closely with him on various projects, he is completely impartial with every client.
After overcoming these minor bumps in the road we were able to build a stunning full-width dormer loft conversion. Not only that, we also renewed all of the roof tiles back to their original slate. We are proud of our work and our clients were thrilled with the finished results. In fact, they have since contacted us for more advice and fees on other properties, in case they plan to relocate.
